More things that appeal to my sense of humour

In my little family I have four children, a girl followed by three small boys.So the other day I was flicking though my daughter's Princess Activity book. Filled with pages like this...

And this (lots of princesses and princes falling in love)

And then I got to this page and had an inkling that one of the other members of the family may have been "helping"... Can you spot the odd man out?? :-)

Good to know that the princess has a quick getaway if that prince ends up being a louse...
Yep, you guessed it, off to file another one under the category "Small things, small minds"

At our place we've had a week of visitors..lovely to have but not conducive to sewing.
However this week is looking a little quieter..so hopefully I'll get some sewing done this week. And then I'll be back with some current pictures. But until then here is a photo of a cushion I made for a Christmas swap for one of the lovely ladies from my online quilting group,Patchnchat.
It's a bit hard to see but there are lots of little suffolk puffs on the front - the result of me playing with one of those suffolk puff makers. (and in case you're wondering I give them a big thumbs up!)

A Girls Day in the Country

Well, I was one of the lucky ladies who headed out to Nundle to participate in the Girls Day in the Country, with guest tutor, Anni Downs. It was a great day with lovely company, food and a sense of accomplishment as I actualy finished something!! We had several choices of projects, a pincushion, a needle case and a stitchery but most of us did the pincushion and got it finished on the day! (Since you get the kits for all three, I have some lovely things to work on at home.) Anni and Kerry from Cottage on the Hill did such a terrific job.

I also bought a few bits and pieces - a copy of Anni's latest book " A Boys Story", some lovely wool and a pattern, that seems to have gone AWOL already...something that regularly occurs in this messy house!

Kerry is already taking names for next year..if anyone is interested??

What the...

Was happily looking at my latest purchase - two charm packs of Rural Jardin..gorgeous prints in blues, cherrys and creams..

(there's my favourite coffee cup in the background..wouldn't that be some great colours for a quilt??)

So I'm there happily imagining gorgeous old world quilts and then...

I came to a lovely toile print and then I had a closer look..trust me to get, on my 5" charm, a horses butt!!

Sorry..juvenile I know, but I think that's amusing..
(and in case you're wondering in the blue version I got exactly the same view...)
What do they say..something about small things amusing small minds??

Progress..at last...

Finally, I have got back to those blocks I had made, many moons ago, from the Fig Tree Patisserie line. I made these blocks from two turnovers and a jelly roll, then added some extra fabric for sashing. I love Fig Tree fabric..she's definitely one of my favourite designers.

Some days things just seem to work right, and this was one of those days..very limited un-sewing, seams matched etc. Those days always makes me want to do a happy dance!!
Now onto the borders.I hope to use the rest of the leftover jelly roll in some way. I will have to put my thinking cap on..any suggestions??

Creating...

Not much sewing going on around here, but still a bit of creating....

One birthday cake for my 5 year old. He chose the Alien out of the Birthday Cake book, and it was a very suitable choice for my "out-there" boy.

I did, finally get started on some borders for this quilt that I started ages ago at a quilting retreat. Still need to put on another plain tan thin border and then I am going with a largish border in the green print so that it covers a queen bed a bit better.

Such an easy quilt to put together and the fabrics are just beautiful!
Hope you're having a great day!
