Christmas flew past

Ooops, life got so busy around Christmas that my blog got a little forgotten.

Anyway I hope you had a lovely Christmas period, celebrating with family and friends.

I always have great intentions of sewing heaps of things for Christmas but when I actually get to December I remember I am delusional if I think I have extra time to sew during Christmas parties, end of year things etc etc.

However, I was determined I was going to get AT LEAST ONE THING DONE!!

So I made a couple of little dresses for two nieces from patterns I picked up at Lifeline.

I have decided that buying 2nd hand patterns are the way to go....they cost me 50 cents and were already cut out! Bonus!

Obviously a little girl in the 1970's had a dress made from this fabric, as it was still tacked to the pocket pattern piece! ha ha

I had bought some Liberty prints on sale so I added some soft chambray to make this...
(could really have done with an iron before the photo!)

Little self-covered buttons. Fiddly but cute...

And for the even smaller niece, a simple smock from a Liberty print and some spotty premade bias binding from Spotlight...

So its back to the grind tomorrow after 10 days at the beach with family. Unfortunately it was not really "beach weather" but nice to catch up with family as all my siblings (I am one of 5) and their families were there for at least a bit of the time. Lovely for the cousins to catch up and I enjoyed catching up on some summer reading (highly recommend Kate Morton's latest, The Lakehouse)

I hope 2016 has started well for you and you're having a great week.

  2. Such sweet outfits! I've given up trying to do anything sensible in November/December. Happy to be back sewing now.
