Some things I love this week..
1.My new Murano necklace...
2. This mosaic..another craft I'd love to try sometime.
This if from a UK artist..so if anyone wants to carry back a mosaic in their handluggage, just let me know! :-)
3. Our new kitten, Willow. Saved from death row at the pound, she's been an absolute delight. The kids love her to bits (sometimes, nearly literally, unfortunately!)
So that's my week. No sewing but lots of fussy cutting of my squares for the baby quilt I'm making.
Anyway, have a great week!

This week..
I'm sitting here feeling a little guilty as we enjoy some much needed rain, whilst other's in Australia are watching the skies with dread as their areas flood. I've been regularly calling my Mum and Dad, who are farming up near Lismore and who, 5 years ago, lost their entire cattle herd down a flooded river. Stay safe everyone!
!
This week we've a family birthday. Happy birthday, Boo
We've celebrated Australia Day with friends. Can you ever have too much pavlova?
And I've managed to complete this little cat stitchery.free pattern from here
My only other sewing was some school dress hems!
Kids go back to school this week so I am looking forward to a little peace and quiet. This sums up my feelings...
I hope everyone ends up having a good week! All the best..

Christmas Swaps.. I received...
.
Santa Sack from Vanessa (it came filled with goodies), Owl and the Pussycat stitchery from Sylvia and the cute felt bird from Kay. I also received a sweet stitchery stocking from Mel but it's been packed away before I photographed it...sorry Mel!

Then it was off to Lennox Heads to swim at the beach and the nearby freshwater Lake..
Lovely time catching up with all my family, then back home to the heat..and boy, its been hot!
Even the magpies took the opportunity to run through the sprinkler when I turned it on for the boys.
Prayers and thoughts for all those Aussies dealing with the bushfires.
Hope this week is a good week for you!

Joining in...
I am joining in with this finish-a-long, hoping it will give me the boost to get some things finally finished!
During this first quarter I would like to :
1. Finish my Twister quilt...
2.Finish my Travelling Circle Bee Quilt
3. And turn this pile of fabric into a low-volume eye-spy quilt for a new niece or nephew due to arrive in April
I think this might be me being a little optimistic as it isn't really quilting weather here in Australia. We've had a run of 43 degree days (109 F) so all you feel like doing is laying on the couch, with a cold beverage, watching the Australian Open!
Last night I also joined Weight Watchers Online, so obviously I'm in a "joining" kind of mood! :-) Wish me luck with both..I'll need it!
Be back soon to show you some lovely things I received for Christmas.

Time goes by...
Hi all!
Life has been getting a bit too much for me again lately and so there has been no sewing here lately. And funnily enough, once I had gotten out of the habit, I've had real problems picking it up again. Every time I tried to put some stuff together I kept doubting my pattern/fabric/colour choice and it would go no further. Frustrating stuff!
However last weekend I decided to make an apron for a soon-to-be sister-in-law's kitchen tea. The invite said "Let's make A a domestic goddess", so I thought I would make it a bit 1950's retro..when the world was full of domestic goddesses.
So I made this to put in a present with some blue teatowels and tray. Looked quite cute all together really.
The pattern is Flirty Skirty Apron by the Apron Lady Designs. You should have seen how much fabric I had pulled out before I chose these two. Actually these were my second choice as I originally had some great pears/apples fabric..but managed to have all the apples and pears upside down! Darn it!
Have a good week! Ps. Still looking for answers on how to get paragraphs to happen in my blogposts. They are there when I type, but when I type publish they disappear..bit like my waistline....(that's my daughter in the pic!)

A revolting story made cute (?) by illustrating with Giant Microbe plush toys from Fishpond.com.au.
For the last few weeks our family has been battling this
Flu
..and just when I thought we were over it and back to a state of wellness we were visited by..
stomachache
..and...
I'm not going to name this one but maybe you can guess!
With three boys sick it has been a long week. Meanwhile nothing has been done around this house. No sewing, no housework to speak of. So this week I have to tackle getting rid of these visitors..
dustmite
..and in my bathrooms..
mould
and get back to my exercise routine to get rid of..
fat cells
But in the spirit of Pollyanna, at least we weren't visited by...
gangrene
and
flesh eating virus
Hope you have a good week.
PS...is it just me, but who would buy these toys for their kids??

When buying online comes back to bite you...
I buy a lot of my feature fabrics online as they are a lot cheaper and mainly because I don't have to drag kid's into quilt shops...it really ruins the whole experience! And I can do it at 11.30pm at night, when I have time to think!
But unfortunately there is nothing like being to hold different fabrics up together to see it they really 'go'.
I bought these three fabrics to make a quilt for my little boy. I thought the bugs in jars fabric was really cute, but not too babyish, and so I bought a blue solid and some little leaves to go with it.
However, the computer screen doesn't always show true colours...
And the scale is very hard to pick....
So this is the fabrics when they arrived.
As you can see that blue doesn't go at all..it's very turquoise really and the scale of the leaf print is way off!
So back to the LQS I go in search of the perfect blue...and might have to rethink those leaves...
*sigh*
But on a cheerier note, I think I've enterred a new stage in my life! I really dislike trying to make a decent looking birthday cake, and the fact I seem to do them at midnight. Well Sunshine Boy had a birthday and my daughter not only made the cake, she iced it too! Yay! I'm intending to never make another birthday cake again (is it wrong to make a child make their own birthday cake??)
I think she did a good job..shame there is no such things as blue Skittles ..(and it had to be dairy -free so we couldn't use Smarties)
Hope you're having a good week!
